COACH

Roseburg Basketball Club is always seeking qualified coaches to join our coaching staff. We are currently accepting applications for the 2024/25 season. RBC has girls and boys teams for grades 4-8, and each team will have 1 designated head coach, and up to 2 assistant coaches. In addition, each team should have a Team Manager separate from Head Coach and Assistant Coach(es).

Coaches are responsible for coaching and mentoring young athletes, fostering a positive and encouraging environment, and teaching the fundamentals of basketball. The coach will plan and execute practice sessions, develop game strategies, and ensure that all athletes understand and adhere to the club's code of conduct.

Coaching positions are volunteer positions, however Head Coaches receive a full discount on 1 dependent player's participant fee, and Assistant Coaches receive a 50% discount on 1 dependent player's fee. Additionally, Roseburg Basketball Club will pay for all approved and required coaching education courses and certifications.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and organize regular practice sessions to develop the athletes' skills and understanding of the game.

• Promote teamwork, sportsmanship, and a positive attitude among players.

• Communicate effectively with players, parents, and club officials.

• Attend all games, tournaments, and club events as required.

• Ensure the safety and well-being of all players.

• Keep up-to-date with the latest coaching techniques and basketball developments.

• Keeping track of (and return at the end of the season) assigned equipment; take care of gym facilities.

Desired Qualifications:

• Prior experience in coaching youth sports, preferably basketball.

• Strong understanding of basketball rules and strategies.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to motivate and inspire young athletes.

• Commitment to the club's values and mission.

Job Requirements:

• Be over the age of 18 years old.

• Pass a background check and complete the USA Basketball coaching course. This position will require extensive contact with youth as well as adults.

• Be able to lift up to 30 pounds or heavier. Position will require lifting training gear and other equipment.
