Roseburg Basketball Club (RBC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that gives Roseburg-area girls and boys in grades 4–8 the chance to play basketball at a competitive level across Oregon. Our mission is to open that door to youth from all socioeconomic backgrounds, and to help them grow into the future leaders of our community.

RBC was founded to build a pipeline of talented players who plan to play at Roseburg High School. Priority for team spots goes to players who live in the Roseburg School District and intend to play at RHS. If spots remain open, the Board of Directors may offer them to players from outside Roseburg, on a case by case basis.

The participation fee for the 2026/27 season is $300. This fee covers all tournament fees, equipment and gear, and a shooting shirt that each player gets to keep. New to the 2026/27 season, there is also a $50 uniform fee that will cover the cost of a uniform that each player will get to keep.

These fees do not include other costs, such as transportation, lodging, etc.

RBC is designed to supplement school basketball, not compete with it, so each team's season is timed around its school calendar:

• 4th–6th grade (boys and girls): Early November through early March.

• 7th/8th grade boys: January through early March, after the school season.

• 7th/8th grade girls: Early November through early March with a lighter schedule in January and February for school ball.

We expect that all games and tournaments will take place in Oregon, likely as far north as Salem and as far south as Medford. It is expected that the season will include opportunities to play in single-day and multi-day tournaments. In January 2027, Roseburg Basketball Club will again be hosting the Timber Town Classic in Roseburg.

Teams practice two to three times a week, in the evenings, at Roseburg schools. Your coach will share the schedule once teams are set.

RBC follows USA Basketball standards for playing time, which vary by age group:

• 4th–6th grade: Equal playing time in quarters 1–3. Coaches decide playing time in the 4th quarter and overtime.

• 7th/8th grade: Every player plays. Coaches decide how much.

Playing time can reflect skill, effort and attitude at practice, attendance, and what the team needs in competition. These are also young players still learning the game, so our coaches work to give every athlete meaningful minutes while balancing development with the competitive needs of the team.

Defensively, RBC aligns its teachings and standards with those of Oregon Amateur Basketball and USA Basketball:

• 4th-6th grades: man-to-man defense only.

• 7th-8th grades: man-to-man defense should be the core, but zone defenses are allowed and should be aligned with RHS programs.

Offensively, RBC believes in teaching the fundamentals of motion offense starting at a young age, and gradually incorporating more set plays and more complex offensive schemes. Offenses should be age-appropriate and consistent with USA Basketball standards.
